2021 Jeep Wrangler 4xe

Jeep 4xe Charging Network will install Jeep branded EV Level 2 charging stations at Jeep Badge of Honor off-road trailheads around the United States.

Jeep Wrangler owners have long ago— and rightfully so—earned a reputation for taking the road less travelled. Literally, Wrangler owners don't truly belong to the culture until they've tested their Jeep on a trail ride.

If you're unfamiliar with the Jeep ® brand's Badge of Honor program, it's a testament to the commitment to the off-road lifestyle by the brand itself. You can learn more on their website.

Jeep ® introduced the 2021 Wrangler 4xe to some skepticism from some of its most loyal followers. Much like the Mustang Mach-E or the four-door Charger, purists found fault with a vehicle perceived as being so radically different from the original.

To make the Wrangler 4xe a legitimate member of the Wrangler fold, it would need to be off-road capable. Even then, many in the Wrangler community will cast a wary eye to the hybrid Wrangler.

Delivering up to 375 horsepower and 470 lb.-ft. of torque, Jeep has complete confidence in the 4xe's capabilities. So much so, they made it more convenient for Wrangler 4xe owners to charge their Jeeps before hitting Badge of Honor trails.

The company announced the Jeep ® branded charging stations will be located at all trail head locations rated by the Badge of Honor communities within 12 months.

The Jeep 4xe Charging Network trailhead chargers will deliver Level 2 (240-volt) charging. With Level 2 charging, the 17 kilowatt-hour battery pack in the Jeep Wrangler 4xe can be fully recharged in about two hours, delivering 49 MPGe and 21 miles of electric range. Recharge times will be shorter for Wrangler 4xe owners looking to just top off the battery pack before heading out on the trail.

The move becomes part of a wider trend within the vehicle manufacturing industry. Vehicle makers realize that consumers have made their car part of their lives. The restrictive COVID prevention measures made everyone's vehicle more than just a means of transportation.

For an extended period, we all celebrated birthdays, graduations and other momentous occasions from the cabin of our vehicle. In fact, for the first time, political rallies were held as drive-in events.

Americans have taken to spending more time outdoors. Now all those SUVs have more of a purpose as a base for family entertainment. Jeep like its competitors has realized the enablement of these lifestyles means long-term profits for the brand.
