All-Electric Silverdo Exterior View

In spring 2023, the Silverado EV will debut as a fleet vehicle, with a premium fully loaded RST First Edition model being released In fall 2023.

GM jumped into the EV truck market with both feet at CES 2022, revealing an all-electric production version of their flagship Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck.

While the vehicle will not be available to the general public until Fall of 2023, a fleet version known as the Work Truck (WT) model will be delivered in Spring of 2023.

The all-electric Silverado WT model will offer 510 hp, 615 lb-ft of torque, 8,000 pounds of towing and 1,200 pounds of payload capability. After initial launch, a fleet model with up to 20,000 pounds max trailering with the max tow package will be introduced.

The all-electric Silverado consumer version, named the RST, will offer even more performance, with up to 664 horsepowe and 780 lb-ft of torque.

Both models provide an estimated 400 mile of range on a full charge.

Silverado’s RST First Edition will include many highly-sought features such as four-wheel steering, Automatic Adaptive Air Suspension, Multi-Flex Midgate, a 17-inch-diagonal LCD freeform infotainment screen paired with a neighboring 11-inch-diagonal digital driver instrument display, head-up display and trailering-capable Super Cruise currently available on existing Silverado and GMC Sierra trucks.

Those types of features should be expected, with the RST First Edition model with a MSRP of $105,000. The WT model will come with a more modest $39,000 price tag.

GM’s approach to their EV pickup launch differs from its competitors. Companies such as Tesla and Ford looked to the general public as a launchpad for their initial EV truck prospects, GM has made commercial and fleet customers the focus of initial sales.

The strategy may be a prudent move. By testing the waters with fleet and commercial users, the vehicle manufacturer avoids some of the unrealistic expectations of the average driver. They also gain the ability to test their new EV vehicle in a controlled environment. Fleet and commercial users will generate high volumes of miles and use cases from which improvements can be engineered.

As with most EVs, the all-electric Silverado will come loaded with the latest infotainment technology. The RST model will come with a 17-inch diagonally measured touchscreen head unit and 11-inch customizable digital driver cluster. The infotainment system will be driven by the company’s in-house Ultifi platform.

The Silverado EV harnesses the power of the Ultium Platform, which is the foundation of GM’s EV strategy and the driver of the company’s vision for a zero-emissions future. GM engineers designed the Ultium system in-house from the ground up.
