Ford designed a competition off-road SUV for hardcore enthusiats—and they delivered.
Ford unveiled the 2022 Ford Bronco Raptor, the newest member of the Ford Raptor family,
If you possess interest in purchasing the Bronco Raptor, first you’ll need to make a personal assessment. If you’re looking for a luxury SUV to get around town and take the occasional trip to the beach or camping—you should probably pass on this one.
Ford intended the Bronco Raptor to be owned by people who wanted to drive off-road at every possible opportunity. When those opportunities arise, Bronco Raptor drivers intend to test the limits.
”the most badass Bronco yet”
~ Paul Wraith, Bronco design chief
The Bronco Raptor brings speed, power and off-road performance technology designed for off-road racing. That said, the Bronco will be the most powerful street-legal Bronco ever.
It comes with an exclusive twin-turbo 3.0-liter EcoBoost® engine targeted to deliver more than 400 horsepower, a Raptor HOSS 4.0 race-ready suspension system, a fully boxed, high-strength steel frame and standard 37-inch all-terrain tires.
The Bronco Raptor SUV added nearly 10 inches in width compared to standard models, to provide more off-road stability at high speed.
Bronco Raptor Includes Cutting-Edge Technology
The suspension received a boost from FOX to upgrade the High-Performance Off-Road Stability Suspension (HOSS) system with Live Valve technology. The Raptor HOSS 4.0 system features FOX 3.1 Internal Bypass Semi-Active Dampers (3.1-inch diameter) that are uniquely tuned at the front and rear and feature integrated reservoirs up front and remote reservoirs in rear.
Suspension height sensors and other sensors at each corner monitor terrain conditions independently hundreds of times every second and adjust suspension tuning accordingly.
The compacted graphite iron-block engine saves weight while providing strength for durability. The 400 HP engine has been combined with a 10-speed SelectShift™ automatic transmission tuned to meet Ford Performance standards.
The true dual-exhaust system allows drivers to alter the sound of their Bronco Raptor with four selectable exhaust modes, including Normal, Sport, Quiet and Baja.
Seven driver-selectable modes include a specially tuned Baja Mode that activates a turbo anti-lag calibration to maximize performance. It also sports a new to Bronco Tow/Haul mode, with a tow rating of 4,500 pounds, 1,000 pounds more than the base model. Trail Control, Trail Turn Assist and Trail One-Pedal Driving modes have also been included.
Ford’s Best Interior Features
Bronco Raptor features an all-digital 12-inch cluster, that allows drivers to select from various views, including a Bronco Raptor-exclusive Performance View highlighting tachometer and gear readings. Gauges can be customized by the driver.
The infotainment system includes a standard 12-inch touchscreen SYNC®4 radio. Other standard features include an exterior camera with 360-degree viewing capability.
If you believe you’re ready for the Bronco Raptor experience, Ford will begin taking orders in March of this year. If you’re sure, don’t wait, most of the production Raptors will be built for those holding reservations.
Ford plans to deliver production vehicles to customers by Summer of 2022.
